The trilogy surrounds an apartment building named "The Necropolitan". In the first movie, "Evilution", the main character lives there. In the second movie, "Basement Jack", the rookie cop lives there. And in the third movie, "The Necropolitan", things will be explained as to why all these bad things are attracted to and/or surround tenants of the building...from what I learned at the Black Gate Films booth at the Fango Convention in LA. The manager will be the star of the 3rd installment and I was lucky enough to meet him and get a signed poster. I liked Basement Jack as well, but didn't care much for Evilution. The actor who plays the titular villain in Basement Jack is better as a silent killer than as a mad scientist in Evilution...his words are horribly mumbled and swallowed...he's much more convincing while not speaking. I wonder if he will also be in the third movie, as yet another character. I do rather like the idea of having a "horror company" with different actors playing different roles, as Billy Morrison from The Cult did in the previous two films (huge Cult fan, by the way, i've loved them well into my 40s, which was what really drew me to these movies in the first place. I got to meet him at Fango as well, lucky me). I totally agree that it was nice to see the heroine in Basement Jack NOT be the typical helpless, shows-her-tits "Scream Queen" (not that I'm against those). I've always been drawn to horror films where the female is a strong character. I loved Karen Cook for staying true to her purpose. At first, I thought she would fall in love with the rookie cop and we'd have some stupid love story attached, but I was happily surprised to see she wasn't swayed by male attention, and the film didn't go that route. "Gritty and pragmatic" was an excellent way to describe her. Reminded me a little of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Conner, did anyone else feel that way? Single purposed and intense. I met the actress at Fango and she was very different from her role. She also stars in BLED, a vampire flick, which is being released from Lionsgate in April according to the Fangoria website, and I plan to check it out. But the story was about the serial killer and I loved Lynn Lowry's performance in the flashbacks. In a word, chilling. How about that chicken costume part? CREEPY. I can't go to KooKooRoo without thinking of that part. Kudos to the writer for that disturbing sequence. The flashbacks did become a little heavy-handed, I guess there's only so much sympathy and understanding we can have for a madman who slaughters families. But all in all, such an interesting a different movie. Theres not much I can say that you didn't touch on above, except for the fight sequences, because they were fantastic for being low budget. Karen and Basement Jack have some pretty intense fights - the rooftop one near the end was very well done. I was able to speak to the writer, Brian Patrick O'Toole, at Fango and he said he'd already been working on the sequel to Basement Jack, but sadly he didn't give me any details. I'm excited to see where the story goes now that we have the murder's backstory. Basement Jack truly stands out as one of the most terrible and terrifying villains in horror movie history...mostly because, as you so aptly stated above - this is not fantasy horror - this is something that could actually happen. I'd love to see this get a bigger budget for the sequel, it certainly deserves it. I wonder what we could do as a horror fan community to let the studios know about this film? Can you imagine this as a $10 million budget? It would be unforgettable. I mean, they're remaking EVERY horror movie off all time...lets get some new blood in the theaters. Basement Jack deserves it.

there are several scenes in the Necropolitan, and one of the main characters actually lives there. In fact the final fight scene takes place on the rooftop of the building.
