Lunchmeat VHS Zine
Josh Schafer & Ted Gilbert

First let me say that Lunchmeat's premiere issue is the shit. Years ago I used to spend hours in Kinkos. I loved the whole DIY cut and paste thing. I once spent 12 hours on a xerox machine making a book to go along with a comp CD I made. This reminds me of that. It has that cool, home made feel to it.

Lunchmeat is a fanzine dedicated to the classic and not so classic movies that only saw life on VHS. Written by two obsessive gents named Josh Schafer and Ted Gilbert, it reviews 17 video tape treasures ranging from their name sake, the gore fest Lunch Meat, to the Italian House of the Yellow Carpet. They cover everything from horror and exploitation to classics and family movies. It also includes a great article on the history of horror toys, a recipe for the Twilight Zone Peanut Butter Bacon Burger, some original comics and tons of classic VHS cover art.

The $5 an issue price might seem a bit steep for what is essentially a fairly small zine, but all I can say is you get what you pay for. Printed on thick high quality paper with an awesome full color cover, this is as top dollar as it comes. This is a zine that would look great on any genre fans coffee table. You can get copies on Ebay or on myspace at myspace.com/lunchmeatzine.
