I wish it was Halloween every night of the year. I love creepy. I love being scared. Fear is a good thing. I was a hell of a first date when I was single, whenever they gave me a choice of movies I always went for the scary ones. My family didn’t get my love of horror films when I was growing up but fortunately my husband does. I don’t really get into slashing moves about stupid teenagers, inbred mutant cannibals and overly endowed girls running for their lives. (Actually if they really thought about it, they could just smother the maniac with those silicone monsters but, hey, it’s just a thought.)
I want something with more terror inducing factors. Like a malevolent demon that wants to rip your heart out. Ghosts, demons, the supernatural and all those things that can’t be seen with the eye, but can still thoroughly terrify you. Now that’s good horror to me. I like to write about it, read about it and of course see it. I am also a horror survival game junkie. I have a personal dislike for Uwe Boll and the abominations he creates of some great horror games. One day when I rule the world..but seriously, I love the revival of horror that the Japanese have done utilizing more suspense and mood than just gore.
This does not mean I don’t love Evil Dead or Sean of the Dead with a passion. Gore can be good, gore can be your friend, just not when it’s random and poorly used.
In my spare time, when not torturing my husband with my ghost stories, I am currently raising the next generation of horror fan, and writing my blog, as well as writing horror and supernatural stories.
Feel free to drop a comment on my blog http://njwriters-in-arms.blogspot.com or read my winning horror story at http://www.saugus.net/Contests/Halloween/2007/Results/Adult/First.
