Leonard Curtis launches new service for invoice finance industry

Professional services provider Leonard Curtis has introduced a new product in the area of invoice financing.

Optimize is a specialized service for business owners using invoice financing that helps them effectively manage their existing facilities and financing, resulting in a better understanding of invoice financing, a longer term relationship with their funder and ultimately a strong and reliable cash flow.

The new service is the brainchild of a well-respected figure in the invoice finance industry, Richard Turvey, who saw a gap in the market for an education and advisory role.

Invoice finance facilities, commonly referred to as invoice discounting or factoring, are used by some 45,000 UK businesses to maximize cash flow and help with credit control, typically on rolling 12-month contracts.

Hellie Wright, Principal at ACS Recruitment (Solutions) Ltd, signed up for Optimize and explained, “We met Richard and his team when we worked with our funder to make funds available to complete an MBO. We were quickly reassured that it was possible and Richard used his knowledge of invoice financing to show us how.

“They have since liaised on our behalf with our funder to ensure access to additional funds. This freed up time for my fellow director and myself to grow the business and resulted in a relationship with our funder that has never been better. Everyone wins.

Optimize will operate on a monthly fee model and aims to become a trusted advisor, working alongside the funder, users and, if necessary, their accountant.

Richard Turvey is an experienced practitioner with over 30 years of experience in the industry. He also owns a company that supports funders in managing risk, so he clearly understands what administrators and funders need to maximize that relationship.

Alongside Richard is Sarah MacInnes, who has joined the new company as a Client Manager. During her 20-year banking and finance career, she was primarily responsible for the relationship between the invoice finance client and their funder. She commented, “I have seen with my own eyes how important a reliable cash flow is to making money. “

Richard agreed, “Optimize is a positive step for the invoice finance industry. There are huge benefits for both the user and their funder when an invoice funding mechanism works well. We want to help the users of these facilities unlock these benefits to give them a strong and reliable cash flow, at a better time for businesses coming out of the pandemic. “

Daniel Booth, director of the Leonard Curtis Business Solutions Group, said Optimize would fit well into the group’s lineup of professional services and timely launches.

“Managing working capital as businesses move through Covid is a top priority. Allowing small business owners to be better judges of what an invoice financing tool looks like is good for everyone.

“Our goal is to solve the problems of business owners and to work as a team to debunk myths and provide simple solutions in complex situations. It is part of a multidisciplinary approach with experts in many fields giving the best advice at the right time. We wish Richard and Sarah every success.
